My Italy Story originally opened Off-Broadway at the 47th Street Theatre (under the direction of Joe Brancato, featuring Danny Mastrogiorgio), and was nominated for the Gay Talese Literary Prize.
SYNOPSIS: Spurred by visits from his grandmother’s ghost and by pleas from his cousin Louie to help get the family back together, Thomas DaGato quits his job as a New York account executive and travels to the tiny Italian village of his ancestors – Vallata. It’s not until he comes home, however, that he discovers a secret that unlocks his past.

JOSEPH GALLO (Playwright) – His solo play My Italy Story had its debut Off-Broadway at the 47th Street Theatre, and was nominated for the Gay Talese Literary Prize. Other solo shows include Whizzy and The Jealousy Piece, both of which premiered in the American Living Room festival at HERE. As a dramaturg and coach he worked on Cary Hoffman’s My Sinatra, currently running Off-Broadway at the Midtown Theatre, and Rachel Factor’s international solo hit J.A.P., among others. ERICH JUNGWIRTH (Producer) – is the founder of the commercial production company, VoiceChair Productions, which produces, presents, manages, markets and consults for theatrical productions. Clients have included AEG/ThemeSTAR, Blue Man Group, Arielle Tepper Productions, and Garfield Live. He has also produced U.S. and International tours for Broadway Across America and Nickelodeon, and worked as Producing Director for the two-time OBIE Award winning Soho Think Tank @ the Ohio Theatre. Most recently he produced Broadway’s A Behanding In Spokane by Martin McDonagh, featuring Christopher Walken. As a producer of solo shows, his work includes: originating producer of Nine Parts of Desire by Heather Raffo (New York, London, Edinburgh); Off-Broadway: Basic Training by Kahlil Ashanti (Australian/U.S. tours), MacHomer – The Simpsons Do MacBeth, and Rum & Vodka by Conor McPherson.
